Shop Small and Buy Idaho This Holiday Season

The holiday season is in full swing. Downtown the trees at the Grove and Capitol Building are lit up bright and the streets and shop windows are decked with holiday frills. There are many family-fun activities around the Treasure Valley. You can take a stroll at the headquarters of Scentsy for a holiday light walk like no other or head over to The Village in Meridian to see how they transformed into Christmas Town with a holiday fountain show to boot. This time of year provides so many reminders for why we are blessed to live in this beautiful valley. There is no better way to show you appreciate all our beautiful Ida-home has to offer than through supporting local businesses. This year, more than any other, our small local businesses need our help to get through these unprecedented times.

Encourage the Artistic

Our valley is home to several world class artists. They get their inspiration from the beauty of Idaho and they love to share their craft and experiences. Why not give your loved one the gift of art while supporting a local business at the same time?

Zion Warne of Zion Warne Studios has been creating incredible glass art in the valley for over twenty years. His melding of colors and his masterful technique combine to create one of a kind works of art that are sure to be a prized possession for generations to come. Delia Dante has a new studio in the heart of downtown, her world class welding and enamel work provide great gifts from jewelry to sculptor work.

While in downtown Boise, finish your holiday shopping at Boise Merry Makers Market or Idaho Made. These two amazing shops feature handmade items from local craftsmen. Your gifts will be unique and will help support local artists.

Give the Gift of Adventure

We are very lucky to live in the Treasure Valley for many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is our access to amazing outdoor adventures! The Boise Gear Collective, right next to the Boise Public Library downtown, is an awesome shop that sells outdoor gear and apparel. Sporting both new and used gear, this is a great place to get professional guidance on what you need to get started in your next outdoor activity. From cross country skiing to mountain biking, they have everything you need and know how to get you on your way.

Is the person on your list ready for a challenge? Vertical View is a new indoor climbing facility here in the Treasure Valley. With four stories of climbing this is great for the daredevil in your family or even to challenge someone you love to get out of their comfort zone. 2021 should be about trying new things, with a gift certificate here you can give those dear to you a chance at an exhilarating new hobby.

No matter who is on your list this holiday season, try your best to get them a gift while supporting a local business. Celebrating local businesses, celebrating local artists, and celebrating all that Idaho has to offer will make your gift unforgettable.
